Last night we had a huge ice storm which just trashed our backyard. All night we would hear a crash every few minutes - a few were huge crashes! Luckily we escaped the major damage our neighbor incurred - huge tree fell on her car! We just got power back about Noon today. The boys didn't have school so it's been a fun day-off!
This is our backyard. This front tree is just practically destroyed. Notice the red small sand box is destroyed.
This is Linda's backyard. This tree came down early this morning.
This is also Linda's backyard. This tree fell on her car about 3am.

WOW. You guys really got a big storm. We have lucked out this winter so far. How many days off school did the boys have? Good luck with the clean up.
HOLY COW, Heidi. I'm glad your cars and stuff made it through okay, although that's sad about the sandbox :( Those pictures are incredible.
I remember a similar storm in MD a few years ago. It looks so beautiful, but it is so destructful. And it isn't really a great time of year for this to happen - right before the holidays. How is your shopping going? Hoping your aren't without power too long and that the temperature will rise a bit and melt the ice.
That's CRAZY! It's amazing how it can look so beautiful and peaceful. Glad your cars and house were OK.
You are so lucky you got your power back so quickly! The four of us slept together in our king bed last night in the FREEZING house and we finally decided at noon today -- when the house was 49 degrees -- that I would bring the kids to my parents' place in NYC so that we wouldn't kill each other from having NOTHING to do, being FREEZING and stinky with no running water...for the next three days. Yup. That's right. We were told we wouldn't get our power back until the earliest Monday, and probably Tuesday. Wow. I took a GAZILLION pictures which I will post on my blog when I get home...whenever that is....
Wow, that is crazy. Glad to hear you guys escaped major damage. I will say that your pictures make me miss New England. I guess the grass is always greener.
