This is Carter's first year in town basketball. They do a great job teaching the kindergarten kids about the game and let them play - no scorekeeping, no outs if they travel (which is all they really do), et al. They have fun but are definitely learning about the zone, defense, keeping their hands up. Carter is always the 'center' when they start the game (they don't jump though). Despite the fact that the baskets are at 8 feet, there are usually only 1-2 baskets made per game, per team.
At yesterday's game, Carter did a great job on defense. He is actually quite aggressive and always goes after the ball anytime he can. (Abby is in the far right background - I had to take her to the game because Bill wasn't home from his trip yet - but luckily I didn't have to chase her quite as much as other games...)
AND - Carter DID SCORE!!!!! No, I don't have a picture of the basket. It was made at the basket farthest from me. BUT - here is a picture of his GIGANTIC smile right after the basket as they came back to the other side of the court. He was blushing as all the moms by me were cheering for him. Huge confidence booster since it doesn't happen often. (Yes, their shirts are big enough for 12-year-olds...)
